Abruzzo

Abruzzo is a land of primeval and silent beauty, a place where the strength of the mountains and the gentle sea coexist in a unique embrace. Called the "Green Region of Europe," this land reveals itself to the traveler as a mosaic of landscapes that seem to belong to different eras, offering a tourist experience that focuses entirely on authenticity and a profound connection with nature.

The journey can only begin from the majestic peaks of the Apennines, where the Gran Sasso massif dominates the horizon. Here lies the Campo Imperatore plateau, an infinite space nicknamed "Little Tibet" for its boundless panoramas. It is a paradise for those who love trekking or simply for those seeking silence, interrupted only by the sound of the wind and the bells of the flocks. Not far away, the Maiella rocks hold age-old secrets, such as the small hermitages carved into the rock where monks sought solitude, places that today offer a palpable spirituality to all who visit.

Descending from the heights, the landscape softens, giving way to hills covered with olive groves and vineyards, dotted with medieval villages that seem suspended in time. Walking through the narrow streets of Santo Stefano di Sessanio or climbing to the Calascio fortress—one of the highest and most evocative castles in Italy—is an immersion in a history of stone and rural traditions. These historic towns have retained their soul intact, offering a genuine welcome that is reflected in typical dishes, where the bold flavor of arrosticini and the texture of pasta alla chitarra speak to a culinary culture closely tied to pastoralism.

Finally, the landscape changes once again as you reach the coast. While the beaches in the north are wide and sandy, perfect for relaxing, it's further south that you'll find the wildest stretch: the Costa dei Trabocchi. Here, ancient fishing machines resembling giant wooden spiders jut out into the Adriatic Sea, creating a unique profile. Dining on one of these trabocchi, with the sound of the waves under your feet and the horizon tinged with pink at sunset, is perhaps the image that best sums up Abruzzo: a perfect balance between human ingenuity and a powerful nature that asks only to be admired and respected.
